Did You Know???Trivia???
Initially, Disney had acquired the rights to Joseph Kosinski's script in a heated auction. However, they later realized that making a PG-rated film based on the script would require a lot of story changes. The rights were subsequently acquired by Universal Pictures.
Goofs
The flight recorder from Oddysey shows the final approach to the alien vessel near Saturn and conversation between its crew and mission control back on Earth. Radio waves need from 68 to 84 minutes (depending on the position around the Sun) to travel the distance from Earth to Saturn.
